Boiler and radiator leads for heating engineers
A stuck TRV head can fit into a gap between two services; a combi conversion needs a survey, a parts order and two clear days. Compare-Boilers.co.uk sends boiler and radiator enquiries to Leads Do Work so heating businesses can pick the work that suits their skills and their diary.
Signing up for a contractor account is free, and you can look through open enquiries in the app before paying for anything. Pick the services you do and the area you cover. If you buy access, read the pack price, the terms and which customer details you get first.

What a heating lead gives you
Each lead is a homeowner or landlord who has asked about heating work. You get the chance to call them, find out about the system and put a price forward. Up to four contractors can see the same enquiry, so a lead is never a guaranteed survey, booking or paid job.
You set your prices and decide which enquiries to take on. Your business is responsible for the advice, survey, contract, work and payment. How many leads arrive depends on customer demand and your coverage; buying a pack does not guarantee income.
Choosing a lead pack
Leads come in packs of 5, 10 or 20. Check the current lead-pack terms before paying. Smart Local is a subscription: packs renew after the included leads have been delivered, no sooner than seven days after the previous pack started. Confirm the price, VAT, cancellation and credit terms in your account.
5-lead pack
A good size for a sole trader testing the service around existing service and repair work. Leave time to call customers back and order parts for boilers you do not see often.
10-lead pack
Suits a business that already quotes regularly for repairs and the odd boiler swap. Think about how many surveys you can fit in before customers move on.
20-lead pack
For a team with more than one engineer and someone to handle calls. Make sure surveys for combi replacements can be booked quickly, as those customers are often comparing several quotes at once.
Choose the heating services you can deliver
Combi Boiler Replacement
New combis fitted in place of old combi, system or regular boilers. Output, flue position, gas pipe size and mains flow all shape the price.
Boiler Hot Water Repair
Boilers that heat the radiators but leave the taps cold. Diverter valves, flow sensors, scaled heat exchangers and cylinder zone valves are the usual causes.
Leaking Radiator Repair
Drips from valve spindles, unions, bleed screws and pipe joints, and corroded radiators with pinhole leaks that need replacing.
Radiator Valve Replacement
Seized, spinning or leaking wheelhead and lockshield valves changed, with the system drained or the pipes frozen, then refilled and balanced.
Thermostatic Radiator Valves
TRVs fitted where there are none, stuck TRVs replaced and smart TRV heads added, with the boiler bypass checked.
Immersion Heater Replacement
Burnt-out elements and faulty thermostats replaced in vented and unvented cylinders. The replacement must match the cylinder manufacturer’s specification, including its safety cut-out.
Only select gas boiler work if your engineers are on the Gas Safe Register for the relevant boiler and fuel categories. Take immersion jobs only if you are competent with the electrical side, and unvented cylinder work only with the right training. Be clear about who notifies a new boiler and who registers the warranty.
Set a realistic area
Travel and parking can use up most of the margin on a small TRV head or valve gland job. A combi replacement may justify a longer drive. Set coverage around the work you want, and update it as your diary fills.
Check the full postcode and access before you offer a time. Coverage settings help match enquiries but do not promise demand in every area you choose.
Questions worth asking on the first call
- Is the customer without heating or hot water, and are they expecting urgent attendance? A lead is not an emergency booking.
- Ask for a photo of the boiler data badge and the pipework below it.
- For hot water faults, ask whether the boiler fires when a tap opens and whether there is a fault code.
- For radiators, ask which end leaks and whether the boiler pressure is dropping.
- For combi quotes, ask about bathrooms, showers and whether there is a cylinder to remove.
- Confirm who can approve the work, especially in rented homes.
Quote the whole job
A boiler price without the flush, filter, controls, flue and gas pipe leaves the customer guessing. A TRV price without draining, balancing and bypass checks does the same. List those items so the customer can see what they are paying for.
Agree how you will handle anything unexpected, such as a seized valve, a corroded radiator or an undersized gas pipe. Explain it, revise the price and get approval before carrying on. Show VAT, disposal and the guarantee terms clearly.
Register your heating business
We ask businesses that join for their insurance details and references. Keep your profile up to date, especially your services and any Gas Safe registration. Account details and pricing are on the Leads Do Work website, or download the app from the links near the top of this page.
Frequently asked questions
Are heating leads exclusive?
No. Up to four contractors can see each enquiry. Think of it as a chance to call the customer and quote, not a job already won.
Can I look at leads before buying a pack?
Yes. A contractor account is free and lets you see open enquiries in the app. The paid options and their terms are shown in your account.
Does a lead guarantee a boiler job?
No. The customer may not go ahead, may choose another engineer or may need different work. Appointments, accepted quotes and paid jobs are not guaranteed.
Who sets the price for the work?
You do. You look at the job, price it and agree the scope, dates, contract and payment with the customer yourself.
